Your old tablet can become the household screen

Dedicated family display hardware can be convenient, but many homes already have an unused tablet or older computer. FamilyBoard can use the same household records in a simplified full-screen view designed for a kitchen counter, hallway desk or wall mount.

Show only what people need at a glance

Display mode should prioritize large, readable information: today’s events, assigned chores, maintenance alerts, upcoming renewals and one or two important household notices. It should avoid exposing private document details or cluttering the screen with settings.

Design for distance, not only touch

A family display may be viewed from several feet away. That means large type, high contrast, predictable sections and restrained information density. Touch controls should also be generous enough for quick completion of a chore or dismissal of a notice.

Reuse existing hardware

Because the product is a PWA, a compatible browser can provide a near-app experience without a separate hardware purchase. The user can add the app to the home screen and launch it in a standalone window where supported.

Treat a shared screen as shared space

A wall tablet is not the place for private notes, sensitive documents or personal account details. Display mode should have a deliberately limited data surface and an easy way to return to a private view only when appropriate.

Contextual CTA: Try display mode on an old tablet before buying a dedicated household screen. If it already solves the visibility problem, the hardware you own may be enough.
