“Change the water filter” is not specific enough for a modern household

A home may have a refrigerator filter, under-sink filter, whole-home system, pitcher or multiple cartridges in one treatment system. The maintenance task needs to name the exact filter and location.

Record confirmed part information

Store the manufacturer/model reference, compatible filter identifier and installation location. Do not rely on visually similar products.

Follow the system’s guidance

Replacement timing can depend on the product, usage and water conditions. Store the recommended interval from the actual manufacturer or service provider rather than a generic site-wide default.

Use history to reduce duplicate work

Record the replacement date and, if useful, a brief note about condition or supply. The dashboard can calculate the next reminder based on the household’s chosen interval.

The product may later support affiliate recommendations, but maintenance accuracy should never depend on a commercial link.

Contextual CTA: Label each water filter by location and system before creating reminders. Correct identification is more valuable than a large number of alerts.
