Receipt Retention Organizer
This tool does not answer “keep every receipt for X years.” It helps the user identify why the receipt exists.
Inputs
- receipt category;
- related asset/project;
- reason to keep: return / warranty / insurance documentation / property-improvement record / tax-related / general reference / user-defined;
- authoritative retention requirement known by user: optional;
- review date.
Output
Create a label such as:
Dishwasher receipt — keep while warranty/service documentation remains useful — review after 2029-04-01.
Safety/legal boundary
For tax, legal or insurance retention, instruct the user to follow the qualified guidance that applies to their jurisdiction and circumstances.
No auto deletion
The tool may create a review task. It must never delete a file automatically.
CTA: Give every long-term receipt a reason. Once the reason disappears, the review decision becomes much easier.
