Printable Home Inventory Template

Start with one room and the items you would need to identify later. Download the blank PDF worksheet for handwriting, or the CSV template for a spreadsheet. Both are free static files: no account, email address or household upload is required. You can use the template without opening the app.

Choose the format for your task

Printable PDFHandwrite a room-by-room recordA landscape worksheet with blank rows and seven inventory columns

Print this worksheetPrint the blank worksheet from this pageUse the browser print preview, check paper size and fit before printing

The blank download does not include the filled example below. Keep receipts and photos separately, and put a safe reference in the sheet rather than assuming a download stores attachments.

Room / 房間Item / 品項Brand / model / 品牌/型號Serial number / 序號Purchase date / 購買日期Receipt / photo reference / 收據/照片索引Notes / 備註

Filled example: one room, two items

These rows are illustrative household records, not real purchases or product recommendations. The seven fields match the downloadable files.

RoomItemBrand / modelSerial numberPurchase dateReceipt / photo referenceNotes
KitchenRefrigeratorModel from appliance labelEnding 48212026-01-31ITEM-01 / receipt / label-photoCheck the written warranty start event
Living roomDeskModel unknownNot availableUnknownITEM-02 / room-photoMeasure before moving; keep unknown fields blank

Give each item a code such as ITEM-01. Use that code in the receipt and photo filenames so another household member can find the source. Do not invent a purchase date, value or serial number to fill a cell.

Keep the completed copy private

  1. Save the downloaded file to a folder you control, then add only the details you need. Check a spreadsheet app’s sync settings before entering household information.
  2. Keep original receipts, photos and complete identifiers in a protected location; use masked identifiers or location references on paper or shared copies.
  3. Save a second copy on another trusted device or storage location. A file on one laptop, or records in one browser, is not a backup by itself.
  4. Add a review date after a purchase, move or disposal. Share only the rows needed for the recipient’s task.

FamilyBoard does not receive values you write into the downloaded worksheet. The public page and static download still use a network connection. If you later use the private app, its records stay in that browser unless you export a backup; clearing browser storage can remove them.

Optional additional fields

  • Purchase price: __________
  • Warranty end: __________
  • Current household owner/user: __________
  • Service provider: __________
  • Storage/off-site location: __________

What to record first

Prioritize appliances, electronics, valuable items, tools, vehicles and home systems. Use photos for context and labels. If a serial number is difficult or unsafe to reach, leave it blank until service makes it accessible.

For a product whose written terms identify a start date and term, use the warranty expiration date calculator and copy the review date into the optional field. Keep the receipt or terms reference in the table so the calculation remains traceable.
