Household information should still exist when the internet does not
Internet outages are usually inconvenient, not catastrophic. But a home organizer is especially useful when normal systems are disrupted: during travel, an outage, a service visit or a move. A PWA can keep the core interface and local records available without a live connection.
What can work offline
The local database can continue to provide previously stored household members, assets, maintenance tasks, subscriptions, emergency notes and other records. Creating or editing those records can also remain local.
Features that depend on external websites, maps, cloud sync or remote product data would naturally require a connection if added in the future.
Offline should be tested, not merely advertised
The build pipeline should include an offline smoke test: install/cache the app, disable network access, reload the core app and verify that essential screens still work. A service worker that exists but fails during a real outage is not an offline feature.
Backups remain essential
Offline availability protects against network failure; it does not protect against device loss or cleared browser data. The product must keep those concepts separate.
Contextual CTA: Install the PWA, create sample records, then deliberately test it offline. A privacy-first product should prove its local behavior in normal use.
